PRESS RELEASE

34LONG moving on, moving up

With ten years experience trading online as Vgallery, 34 Long Fine Art opened its doors in Cape Town’s Long Street in 2004. Now, five extraordinary years later, our growing international business calls for a new position in the local art scene, and with it, a new name and a new address.

All our exhibitions during the past five years contributed to establishing the gallery’s reputation as a leader in bringing the best of international contemporary art to local audiences, but one might select a few highlights: hosting several solo shows by international phenomenon Takashi Murakami; introducing the work of astounding Chinese artists like Feng Zhengjie and Zhang Xiaogang to South African collectors; including names like Koons and Hirst in group shows and promoting the work of quality newcomers like Asha Zero.

In 2010, we become 34 FINE ART (less confined, yet retaining a reference to our beginnings) and in addition to our regular gallery business, we will operate an annual show in London, providing selected South African artists with special international exposure.

To do this efficiently, we are moving to a nifty new space in Buchanan Square, 160 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock, an elegantly renovated complex in the center of Cape Town’s art district. It offers ample secure parking and proximity to fine restaurants, designer shopping and a growing number of fine art galleries.

Our new doors will open in March 2010 with a grand celebration and an awesome exhibition, details of which will be communicated in due course.

Our business at 34 Long Street ceases on 17 January 2010. In the interim, all work offered for sale on www.34long.com and www.vgallery.co.za are available for viewing by appointment. Should you be interested, please contact Andries on 082 354 1500.
